Where visitors entering the Healesville Sanctuary once faced a congested turnstile, we have instead designed an entire entry sequence and threshold. Arriving at the car park, visitors are greeted by a large artwork announcing their arrival to the Sanctuary. They then pass under the undulating threshold into an un-ticketed courtyard within which they have access to toilets, information about the sanctuary, access to the cafe and retail, and a ticketing booth with a shaded queuing area. Once through the checkpoint beyond the ticketing booth, a path takes visitors into the heart of the sanctuary where they will find, among other things, the Australian Wildlife Health Centre — also designed by us.
