Wetlands Discovery Centre Masterplan

EDITHVALE SEAFORD RAMSAR WETLANDS

A master-plan for a discovery where public could gain direct experience of the RAMSAR-listed Edithvale Seaford wetlands.

The Edithvale Seaford Wetlands are what remains of the Carrum Downs wetlands. Melbourne Water commissioned the master-plan to improve public access to and understanding of the wetlands. Protected by a RAMSAR listing, the wetland’s proximity to built-up areas nevertheless puts it at risk of negligence and vandalism. Central to the master-plan is an ambition to better educate the immediate and broader community about the significance and sensitivity of the wetlands — made manifest in a our interpretative education centre completed in 2011.
