For the first time since their opening in 1988, the galleries were been architecturally reimagined. The collaboration allowed the curatorial spread and architecture to create a journey that offers a new interpretation of the artworks. The experience unfolds through interlinked rooms and corridors, with new walls soaring into the galleries’ coffered ceilings, while compressed spaces offer glimpses into other areas. Visitors are taken on a spatial and emotional journey, from Polly Borland’s playfully dressed bodies, rich with sexual suggestion, to Tim Silver’s disintegrating sculpture of a stargazing boy. The exhibition explores love’s varied language—joy, desire, eroticism, longing, loss, and memory.
