Parallel Collisions
ART GALLERY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA, 2012MvS redesigned the temporary galleries of the Art Gallery of South Australia for “Parallel Collisions” - The 12th Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art. Open March and April 2012.
The design for this exhibition is a tracking shot which journeys through a collection of works in spaces tailored to them.
By creating a series of display walls low enough to run between the adjacent rooms, we transformed the large galleries into a series of vistas and barriers directing the visitor’s gaze towards, and away from, works as required by the curators.
The show attracted double the visitor numbers of any Adelaide Art Biennial prior.
Installation views featured Robert Cook vs Max Pam, Rob McLeish, Ricky Swallow, Michelle Ussher, Marco Fusinato, Tim Silver and Tom Nicholson.
