Star Voyager
australian centre for the moving image, 2011-12 AUSTRALIAN CENTRE FOR THE MOVING IMAGE, 2011 - 2012An exhibition at ACMI, Federation Square, exploring the relationship between space exploration and its representation on screen.
Our design of this exhibition draws explicitly from the motifs of footage and films of human ventures into space. The project room is clad in NASA-esque gold foil, smaller objects are displayed in an ‘asteroid belt’, films and objects are arranged in a false perspective space corridor and space suits are choreographed to mimic famous movie scenes.
We worked closely with the curators to create spaces that were evocative of the exhibition’s theme.
‘Star Voyager’ was launched at ACMI on 21st of September 2011 by astronaut Rex Walheim.
Star Voyager was short-listed for the Melbourne Design Awards in 2012.
