A major library extension, student services and public concourse at the heart of an extensive remake of RMIT University’s Melbourne city campus.

Additional teaching and library spaces, flexible learning spaces, facade upgrades, fluent circulation spaces and a wholly reinvented public realm will be key features of this major upgrade when it opens in 2015.

The renovation will make permeable the existing building creating public links between Swanston Street and Bowen Street over multiple levels.

These strong pedestrian throughways and proximity to Storey Hall, the recently opened RMIT Swanston Academic Building opposite and the RMIT Design Hub on the corner of Swanston and Victoria Street will serve to further enmesh the University with the city.

Designed in conjunction with Lyons, NMBW, HAW and Peter Maddison, the project is due for completion in early 2017.
