After winning the project in competition, Minifie van Schaik prepared a masterplan for the redevelopment of the plaza levels of RMIT buildings 10-14.

Level 4 was designed to provide for growth in student facilities and to improve linkages between the newly landscaped Bowen Street and Swanston Street.

In staged implementation of the masterplan, MvS designed and administered construction of a new Media Centre, Union facilities and the Student Information Hub; this project won an Australian Campus Manager's Association Award for best Facility Renovation in 2002.

In 2012 MvS, along with Lyons, HAW, NMBW and Peter Maddison, were awarded a major commission to refurbish the the RMIT University buildings 10, 12 and 14 between Swanston Street and Bowen Street.

This commission will completely reconfigure the university's relationship with the CBD through the interface of Swanston Street.
