Two titles are combined into one to create this residence for a family of four in a Melbourne apartment building.
The Righetti Residence is a family home on the ninth level of the Hero building in Melbourne's Little Collins Street fashion district.
The project combines two titles into one and arranges the family into child and adult wings - to the east and west respectively. Each wing has its own collection of bathroom and en-suites allowing for the changing needs of solace and privacy as the children grow to become adults.
Public family activity is designed to occur at the centre of the circuit around a large island kitchen which addresses both the formal dining area and the casual lounge area.
Subtle changes in ceiling level and a constructed perspective frame at the intersection of the kitchen and formal dining area articulate and curate the spaces. This is an open plan home, yet each space is part of a slightly eclectic collection. Like the family who proudly own and occupy it, the home is simultaneously one and many.
