The redesign of the Museum Courtyard at the University of Melbourne, in conjunction with landcape architects Rush Wright Associates, involved the design of a new canopy to provide increased covered cafe seating.

The canopy is constructed from a series of profile cut steel sheets creating an undulating form floating above the outdoor cafe area. The project reinforces the edge of the site maintaining the street frontage set up by the adjacent Ian Potter Museum. The construction and design process utilises innovative fabrication techniques including CAD/CAM and rapid prototyping.
