The primary intention of the Visitor Precinct is to create a strongly defined place of arrival - a front door to welcome visitors to the park and gardens and convey key information within an atmosphere that underscores the value of these great public assets.

Increasing pressure on today’s society places a high value on well-being. Nature has power to rejuvenate and parks and gardens have the ability to foster an important sense of well-being -of the mind, body and soul. The opportunity for active recreation in the broader Eastern Park and more relaxed recreation in the peaceful Botanic Gardens provides a necessary balance to a city lifestyle.

The Botanic Gardens has a strong community role and engages people on different levels. The Gardens primary role is to hold plant collections for the purposes of conservation, education, research and display.
