MvS Architects amongst winners of Carlton Brewery redevelopment competition

On a site previously occupied by the Carlton United Brewery, and Bounded by Swanston, Queensberry, Bouverie and Victoria streets, the design competition awarded ambitious design commissions to MvS Architects, McBride Charles Ryan, Denton Corker Marshal, NH Archietcture, Studio 505 and Ashton Raggatt McDougall - only the latter two of which were developed before Grocon sold the balance of the site to a series of international developers after developing their exciting Swanston Square project at its heart (pictured lower right).

The site is shared by the old Malt Store, the Queensbury Hotel, the RMIT Design Hub by Sean Godsell.

The old brewery was demolished speculatively in 1986 and as of 2013 became developed and occupied through the joint efforts of many designers, Grocon and RMIT University.
