A vision for the strategic planning of Castlemaine's Cultural Facilities designed to convert a reputation for festivals and arts into social and economic benefit for the region at large.

A shared Cultural Facilities Vision is being developed with the Mount Alexander Shire, key stakeholder groups and the general public. The project involves observation of, and conversations about, the current, planning, programming, managing and maintenance of a broad range Castlemaine's cultural facilities to gain an understanding of audience patterns, facility sharing, staffing levels in order to unlock latent potential and to build stronger cultural identity in the urban spaces and built environment of the town and its region.

The project will culminate with a series of recommendations, and design options, for the long term development of Castlemaine and the development and enhancement of all its economies through more tangible cultural identity and more frequent participation from locals and visitors alike.

The project is due for completion in December 2015.
