In multitude the ordinary becomes sublime. Through new opportunities provided by CNC brick laying technology, we imagined a façade where each brick had a unique relationship to its neighbour. Warped surfaces, gradated textures and porosities are thus created whilst retaining an assemblative logic common to centuries of unit masonry construction.

The project comprises 25 affordable residential units, a small showroom with office space, a half basement of car spaces and ample bicycle parking. One third of the site is given over to public space. The building's height is defined by what can be comfortably accessed by stair. The internal breeze-wall space allows for natural ventilation of all apartments and bricks are used as thermal mass to stabilise internal temperatures.
